Conference Structure

The Conference, taking place on 31st October 2008, will begin with a welcome reception. Participants will register and prepare to be seated in the Nelson Mandela Lecture Theatre by 10am.

Format of the Conference

The Conference will begin with an opening address by the guest of honour, a Senior Faculty Member of the Said Business School, and a representative of the Platinum Sponsor of the Conference. This will be followed by the first two-hour segment involving executives from leading investment banks, who will each present an insider’s perspective on ‘the future of the Investment Banking industry: facing challenges and creating opportunities’ in a short ten-minute individual speech, followed by a panel discussion chaired by a representative from reputed media organizations.

Thereafter, the Conference will break for a one-hour lunch break; following which, the next two-hour segment will begin. It will host short individual speeches from executives from asset management firms and hedge funds, based loosely on the main theme ‘Creating and seizing future opportunities in the Asset Management business’ followed by a panel discussion chaired again by a media representative or Said Business School professor. This will be followed by a short tea reception.

After the break, proceedings will resume with the last segment along the same format as the segments listed above, featuring short individual speeches from executives from leading management or financial consulting firms, adding another perspective on the topic of the chances and challenges of the Investment and Banking industries. The closing ceremony of the Conference will feature a keynote address by the Senior Member of the capitOx.

Networking opportunity

A one-hour lunch break is arranged between the first two segments. There will also be a short tea reception between the second and last segment. Recruitment booths will be set up by participating firms outside the foyer of the theatre in advance for recruitment and networking purposes during the breaks.
